This is a one day class in which we will learn the old ways of food storage of our homesteading/self reliant ancestors. We will discuss and examine root cellar placement, ground selection, ventilation, drainage, ground temperature averages and more. We will also physically construct multiple small working root cellars during class and place them into service.

We will examine the many options available to modern homesteaders or self reliant persons who desire to take an additional step toward off-grid living and how to construct and use these root cellars with minimal expense.
