This high-tempo course is an educational adventure. You will spend two full days and one night learning to treat the most common injuries and illnesses associated with wilderness actives and extreme sports in austere environments. You will learn to manage a myriad of trauma and medical emergencies, how to navigate using a map & compass, how to treat water, how to tie useful knots & hitches, how to set up an anchor system and rappel, how to establish a helicopter landing zone, and more. There will be multiple hands-on skills and a capstone exercise where you will operate as a team member in a simulated search and rescue operation.
Upon completion you will receive an Internationally recognized certification in Wilderness First Aid Care from the American Safety & Health institute or the National Association for Search and Rescue, valid for two years.
