This event is for women only. Women who hike, camp, hunt, fish, recreate outdoors in any form, or who simply desire additional experience in the outdoors. All are welcome.
Although based off of and designed as a follow up to our level 1 women’s wilderness skills/survival weekend, this class dives into primitive skills, improvisational skills, and takes the classroom into hundreds or even thousands of acres and on foot. All of your skills will be used in a real world woodland environment. This course is designed to be challenging as well as rewarding. This course contains factual context of skills application and examines the validity of various primitive skills as it relates to wilderness survival.
The purpose of this class is to provide exposure to wilderness skills and methods used to stay alive in the face of unexpected adversity and with only minimal gear. We will also discuss the factual reality of the use and need of these skills. This course of instruction will provide realistic and factual information and is not “survival” as seen on TV.
Instructors for this course are former high level law enforcement and military personnel who are currently medical, wilderness skills, search and rescue, corporate leadership, primitive skills and self reliance and subsistence educators.
We will cover such topics as primitive fire making, resource identification and gathering, core temperature control, primitive shelter options, gear/kit/clothing, primitive and modern land navigation, dietary/nutrition realities while afield, water procurement and treatment, priorities during wilderness survival/emergencies, and much more. We will stay in a woodland environment for the class duration, day and night.
You will stay in a different primitive shelter that you build both nights, as well as work on various primitive skills and distance land navigation.
Please bring compass, backpack, food, stainless steel water bottle, quality footwear, proper clothing/bedding for the weather conditions and a fixed blade knife 4-5” in length.
